“Making
Effective Presentations” is a crucial part of the journey of any MBA. On
October 9,2012,the students at FORE School Of Management were provided with
some valuable tips about honing their Presentation skills by Mr Maneesh
Pherwani, Regional Sales Manager at Johnson & Johnson Medical, who visited FORE as part of the 'Anubhuti' session held by the CID division. An
experienced Corporate Sales professional, Mr Pherwani stressed upon the
importance of Communication in an Organisation and the role of one’s Body
Language in making the whole process all
the more effective.
He continued
with the guidelines of what works and what does not. He advised the Students
against reading from the slides, using small text or long sentences and too
many graphic or annoying sound effects in a presentation. He also gave the
Audience some Rules of Thumb such as being prepared to answer questions about
Why,What,Where,Whom,How through a presentation and the very important “Rule of 6” i.e. using 6 words per line and 6
lines per slide.
He took the
Session forward with some tips to design the presentations better. He talked
about improving the readability of a slide by using Sans-Serif fonts and expressing
the information through concise bullet points. He also shared his own
experiences and insights about maintaining a consistent style through the
presentation. After the design,he shifted his focus towards as he put it “the
Final Frontier” of delivering the presentation. He expertly talked about the
importance of knowing one’s audience citing relevant examples. The Session indeed
proved to be an hour of immense learning for all the budding Managers present
in the Auditorium.
